For people who consider flying to ireland: the flight was about 95€ per
 flight (191.35€ for both ways)

and in retrospect i can say we should have spent a few bucks more

instead of booking the cheapest jet, which left dus at 10pm
\end_layout

you can get a flight in the morning for less bucks than one extra night
 in a hostel is.

but than you travel to learn something.

next problem was: there was some kind of important football match in dublin
 that day (and by football i mean the game you play with your feet -- no
 hands allowed)

and when preparing for the journey, it wasn't easy to find a cheap stay,
 but we somehow managed to get the last beds in town.

we stayed one night in Dublin and then took the bus across the country to
 the west coast.

travelling was one of the most expensive parts of our trip

turns out you can get on a cheap bus between bigger cities, even across
 the country,

but only Bus Eireann (the former state-run bus company) drives to the small
 cities at the coast.

so it was nearly the same price to get from dublin to galway as it was to
 get from there to the small village of clifden

Any you can get discounts when buying your tickets in advance, but you need
 a credit card for that, which we didn't have.

at night we went to pubs

turns out there is live music nearly every night (at holiday season / for
 the tourists)

 first we went to the wrong one.
 it was the one for local people.
 they were playing bingo and gambling for money.
 some elderly people played the accordeon and banjo.

 a table.
 pro: they don't expect tips

We mostly went to hostels.
 This was our only stay in a B&B.
\end_layout

the difference between hostels and a B&B is, a hostel is cheap but you get
 to share a room with 4-8 people and in a B&B you get your own room.
 A B&B is basically someone who has at least one room to spare for guests
 and that someone will cook breakfast for you.

That (slide) is another difference.
 Breakfast is included in both of them.
 But breakfast in england is a 5 minute presentation on its own.

In the B&B our host asked us what we'd like for breakfast.

So after breakfast our host asked me to help him outside with some hanging
 flower pots so he wouldn't have to get his ladder out.

The next day we went to Doolin.

 is probably the best hostel EVER.

It had a fully equipped kitchen.
 A lovely living room and a garden with a barbecue grill and a terrace to
 stay and talk to strangers.

The majority of tourists were from germany but also several people from
 spain, the us, france or the uk.
 Mostly (but not limited to) people at our age.

It is owned by some Mathew and his wife.
 His wife takes care of the B&B next to it,

and he runs the hostel and also the local bicycle rental

and a few times a month he does coast guard duty.

But somehow he also had time to do our laundry and be very nice.
