From 71990f779e5adf25596e093ab5bac419bd03c1db Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Romain Goffe Date: Wed, 22 Feb 2012 20:10:33 +0100 Subject: [PATCH] rework Leonard Cohen - Winter lady D+4 denotes a D chord (D/F/A) with an additionnal G and is thus more commonly written as D4. You can't use barre notation for this particular D4 since the G string should be played "alone" (and don't use a barre anyway). 5:X0221X isn't a Amaj7 but a Dm. I'm not sure of the "official" representation for Leonard Cohen's exact Amaj7 but X0565X sounds good to me, is quite easy to perform from X5403X (D4) and is only played on ADGB strings. I may have over-simplified chorus chords but D and Am sound good. In fact, I hardly hear the bass string played (maybe a G which would justify the D4/Am7) but higher notes in the chords are definitely those of D and Am chords. Since I usually prefer simplicity over accuracy, D/Am chords for chorus seems a reasonnable choice. The indication to play only on ADGB strings has been removed since : - they now can be played for chorus (based on D/Am chords) - verse chords properly indicate that both E strings should not be played For this last point, I explicitly marked the C chord as important since it is often (almost always) played as X32010 (as opposed to X3201X in this song) --- Leonard_Cohen/Winter_lady.sg | 56 +++++++++++++++++------------------- 1 file changed, 27 insertions(+), 29 deletions(-) diff --git a/Leonard_Cohen/Winter_lady.sg b/Leonard_Cohen/Winter_lady.sg index 3ef370b4..b2138dce 100644 --- a/Leonard_Cohen/Winter_lady.sg +++ b/Leonard_Cohen/Winter_lady.sg @@ -4,52 +4,50 @@ [by=Leonard Cohen,cov=songs-of-leonard-cohen,album=Songs of Leonard Cohen] \cover - \gtab*{Amaj7}{5:X0221X} - \gtab*{D+4\Verse}{3:X3201X} - \gtab{C}{X3201X} - \gtab*{D+4\Chorus}{3:X0201X} - \gtab*{Am7}{X0201X} - - \musicnote{4 cordes centrales en arpège} + \gtab*{D4}{X5403X} + \gtab*{Amaj7}{X0565X} + \gtab*{C}{X3201X} + \gtab{D}{XX0232} + \gtab{Am}{X02210} \beginverse* - \musicnote{\Intro: \nolyrics{\[Amaj7 D+4]}} + \musicnote{\Intro: \nolyrics{\[Amaj7 D4]}} \endverse \beginverse - \[D+4]Traveling \[Amaj7]lady, \[D+4] stay a\[C]while - Un\[D+4]til the \[Amaj7]night is \[D+4]over - I'm just a \[Amaj7]station \[D+4]on your \[C]way - I \[D+4]know I'm \[Amaj7]not your \[D+4]lover + \[D4]Traveling \[Amaj7]lady, \[D4] stay a\[C]while + Un\[D4]til the \[Amaj7]night is \[D4]over + I'm just a \[Amaj7]station \[D4]on your \[C]way + I \[D4]know I'm \[Amaj7]not your \[D4]lover \endverse - \begin{repeatedchords} \beginchorus - Well \[D+4]I lived with a \[Am7]{child of snow} - \[D+4]When I was a \[Am7]soldier - And I\[D+4] fought every \[Am7]{man for} her - Un\[D+4]til the nights grew \[Am7]colder + Well \[D]I lived with a \[Am]{child of snow} + \[D]When I was a \[Am]soldier + And I\[D] fought every \[Am]{man for} her + Un\[D]til the nights grew \[Am]colder \endchorus + \begin{repeatedchords} \beginverse - She \[D+4]used to \[Amaj7]wear her \[D+4]hair like \[C]you - Ex\[D+4]cept when \[Amaj7]she was \[D+4]sleeping - And then she'd \[Amaj7]weave it \[D+4]on a \[C]loom - Of \[D+4]smoke and \[Amaj7]gold and \[D+4]breathing + She \[D4]used to \[Amaj7]wear her \[D4]hair like \[C]you + Ex\[D4]cept when \[Amaj7]she was \[D4]sleeping + And then she'd \[Amaj7]weave it \[D4]on a \[C]loom + Of \[D4]smoke and \[Amaj7]gold and \[D4]breathing \endverse \beginchorus - And \[D+4]why are you so \[Am7]{quiet now} - \[D+4]Standing there in the \[Am7]doorway? - You \[D+4]chose your journey \[Am7]{long before} - You \[D+4]came upon this \[Am7]highway + And \[D4]why are you so \[Am]{quiet now} + \[D4]Standing there in the \[Am]doorway? + You \[D4]chose your journey \[Am]{long before} + You \[D4]came upon this \[Am]highway \endchorus \beginverse - \[D+4]Traveling \[Amaj7]lady, \[D+4] stay a\[C]while - Un\[D+4]til the \[Amaj7]night is \[D+4]over - I'm just a \[Amaj7]station \[D+4]on your \[C]way - I \[D+4]know I'm \[Amaj7]not your \[D+4]lover + \[D4]Traveling \[Amaj7]lady, \[D4] stay a\[C]while + Un\[D4]til the \[Amaj7]night is \[D4]over + I'm just a \[Amaj7]station \[D4]on your \[C]way + I \[D4]know I'm \[Amaj7]not your \[D4]lover \endverse \end{repeatedchords}
